Brilliant Family holiday
We stayed at Southwold Barn in February 2018. There was myself, my husband, our son aged 4 and daughter aged 2, my mum and dad and mother and father in law so total of 6 adults and 2 children. There is plenty of space for us all and a lovely open plan kitchen, dining and living area for us all to enjoy and relax in. We were greeted by Emma the owner when we arrived who was lovely and showed us all around. We were joined outside the main door by the chickens each morining which the kids loved. Southwold Barn is centrally located to visit all the lovely villages in the Cotswolds, we especially liked Broadway. We had a few lovely meals out and would recommend The Inn At Fossbridge and The Wheatsheaf in Northleach. Overall, we had a brilliant few days away and will definitely plan to return to Southwold Barn in the future
Christmas week at Southwold Barn
If you want a wonderful place to stay for Christmas, this is it. It is very easy to reach, very very comfortable, and Emma's welcome and concern for you is out of this world. The Christmas tree was beautiful and the decorations in the barn were so thoughtfully done. Emma also checked when it snowed that we had everything we needed. The countryside around is beautiful, and you feel that you are away from the hurly burly of life, sit back and relax and let the world go by. Also much appreciated were the little touches of extras in the bathrooms and kitchen.
Weekend away with friends
A group of friends and I stayed at Southwold Barn last weekend and we had such a great time. The barn is exactly as it looks in photos beautifully decorated with plenty of amenities. It's easy to find and close enough to the neighbouring villages to enjoy all the Cotswolds has to offer! Would definitely recommended to others. Thank you for having us
An excellent break
I met up with a few friends back in October and we all decided that we needed a weekend break to relax and catch up. We searched the Internet for a cottage to hire for the month and we came across what looked to be a sweet, quiet and relaxing converted barn. We decided to book and give the place a go (our first venture). Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner who made us all feel exceptionally welcome. She gave us a tour of the barn, demonstrated how the kitchen appliances worked and provided us with a detailed and informative welcome pack. On our first night, we lit the fire and just simply relaxed after a long week of work. Immediately, with the heat pouring from the fire and the red wine flowing, we simply forgot about the week and started our long awaited catch up. On the Saturday, we spent the whole day exploring the Cotswolds, taking a four hour walk and braving the winter weather. It was wonderful! When we returned, the fire was out back on and we all fell asleep to complete silence. We managed to order a really nice Chinese, which we picked up in the local town at a very reasonable price. Again, we sat up at the large dining room table and chatted away. The bedrooms were all spacious, 2 of which included an ensuite. Though it became a little hot during the evening, we figured out how to turn the heating down! The beds were super comfy and we all commented on how amazing our nights sleep were. If you are after a relaxing and quiet break away from the standard Monday- Friday working week, I would strongly recommend the Southwold Barn - cosy, spacious and just peaceful. The total cost of the stay worked out to be about 70 quid per person for two nights. Very reasonable!!!
Home from Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Southwold Barn last week. The accommodation is first class and ideally suited our family needs. The beds are especially comfortable. The kitchen is particularly well equipped - probably the best self-catering kitchen I have enjoyed in more than 25 years of 'cottage' holidays (although we never did find the butter dish - guess we didn't look in the right place). The outside area could not have been more perfect, with the chickens and peacock for our youngest member to delight in - plus a tiny stream for the first ever wearing of wellingtons.
We had a lovely weekend in this delightful cottage. Even with 8 of us staying there was plenty of space. The cottage is in a lovely, peaceful setting, it was clean and well maintained. The owner gave us a warm welcome, a delicious cake and supplied help for our technological challenges with the TV!! She even provided wood for the wood burner when we asked. We all loved having the peacock and chickens around. I would highly recommend this cottage, wish we could have had a longer stay!
Fantastic property and ideallic location
As a group of 7 adults and a young baby we'd definitely recommend this property to anyone heading to this area. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by Emma the very friendly owner and shown around the immaculately presented house. All bedrooms are well decorated with quality linen and towels provided & as all rooms are ample size no one gets the short straw either. The open plan kitchen and lounge area has plenty of room for everyone to relax & the board games provided are a nice touch too.
Blissful weekend away at Southwold Barn
Beautful barn in a peaceful location in the Cotswolds. My friends and I so enjoyed staying in Southwold Barn last weekend. The cottage was fully equipped with all mod cons and some welcoming home comforts. When we arrived we were greeted with a yummy lemon drizzle cake that the owner Emma had made fresh that day. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.
Quaint and Cute cottage in the Cotswolds
This cottage was excellent for our group! We were attending a wedding coming over from Canada and were looking for a reasonably priced self-catering cottage for 8. We were all so pleasantly suprised upon our arrival - everything looks exactly like the photos, only better in person! The cottage was clean and well maintained - having everything we needed, whether it was kitchen items or laundry facilities. 3 full bathrooms was also a HUGE plus for a group of 8! Emma, the owner was lovely. She was incredibly accommodating, even helping us with some missing ingredients and helping us with directions. We did not rent a car for our visit to the Cotswolds and really should have. We ended up relying on local taxi services which was challenging as not many knew where the cottage was located - it's very remote! I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone considering a visit to the Cotswolds. We all had such a wonderful time and loved staying at the Stonewold Barn.
